Licensing Terms

1. About your license

A license gives you permission to use a Producer's beat under the terms of your purchase. It does not, by itself, transfer ownership of the beat or its underlying composition. The Producer is the licensor; ProdBy facilitates the purchase and delivery of the beat files and license document. Read these terms alongside your purchase's license document and our Terms & Conditions.

2. Lease licenses: non-exclusive use

The Producer retains ownership of the beat and its underlying composition and may continue licensing the same beat to other artists. Your purchase does not reserve the beat for you or remove it from sale.

Subject to the terms and limits of your purchased license, you may:

• Use the beat to create one (1) original commercial track.
• Distribute that track on streaming platforms, digital stores, social media, and physical formats.
• Perform that track live.
• Publish one (1) official music video using the beat.

3. Lease restrictions and Content ID

Permission to release your finished track does not give you permission to distribute the standalone beat. You may not resell, sublicense, transfer, share, or redistribute the beat in any form, or claim ownership of it.

You may not register the beat with YouTube Content ID or a similar content identification system without prior written permission from ProdBy and/or the Producer, as required by your license. This also matters when a distributor offers automatic Content ID registration for your finished track: do not enroll the licensed beat without that permission, as other artists may also be entitled to use it.

4. Usage limits and additional permissions

Check the listing and your license document for the scope of your purchase. This page does not promise unlimited streams, sales, videos, or a particular license duration. Any use beyond the purchased license limits requires an upgraded or new license from ProdBy.

If you need another track, additional videos, or use in a film, advertisement, game, or other project outside the stated permissions, contact us before proceeding. Do not assume that additional rights, royalty arrangements, publishing splits, or credit requirements are settled by the purchase price alone; confirm any applicable terms with the Producer in writing.

5. Exclusive licenses: how they differ

Exclusive licenses cannot currently be purchased on ProdBy. An exclusive license would grant exclusive usage rights to the buyer and remove the beat from further sale on ProdBy after the purchase is completed. A lease does neither.

Exclusive usage rights are distinct from ownership. The Producer would retain ownership of the underlying composition unless a separate ownership transfer agreement were made. Exclusivity alone should not be understood as a transfer of copyright, publishing rights, or every possible right to the music.

A beat may already have been leased to other artists. Do not assume that a future exclusive purchase would cancel earlier licenses. If exclusive licensing becomes available, the terms offered at that time will need to specify the treatment of earlier leases, permitted uses, limits, and any other obligations. This overview does not grant exclusive rights or convert an existing lease into an exclusive license.

6. Files and proof of purchase

After successful payment, your purchase includes the beat files available for that listing and a license document identifying the beat, Producer, buyer, license type, and order. Keep a copy of your license and order details as proof of your permission to use the beat. A preview or an unpaid download is not proof of a purchased license. For missing or inaccessible files, contact support with your order reference.

7. Producer responsibilities and rights concerns

Producers must own or have the necessary rights to license their uploaded material, including any samples used. If you believe a beat infringes your rights or there is a licensing problem with your purchase, contact support with the beat link, order reference where applicable, and details of the issue. Refund requests are handled under our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
