About ProdBy
ProdBy is a beat marketplace built for producers and artists in South Africa and beyond. We wanted a place where producers could actually run a business selling beats, and where artists could discover and buy beats without the usual back-and-forth of YouTube comments, DMs, and manual payments.
Why we built this
Most independent producers today upload beats to YouTube, wait for artists to reach out, and handle pricing, payment, and file delivery manually for every single sale. It works, but it doesn't scale, and there's no real business behind it, just a slow, repetitive process that eats time producers could spend making music.
What ProdBy does differently
ProdBy automates the parts of selling beats that shouldn't need a human in the loop: licensing, file delivery, and payment, all handled the moment a sale happens. Producers upload a beat once and it's available to buy, with a license document generated automatically for every purchase.
We also built this with local payments in mind, pricing in Rand, checkout through PayFast, and no forcing every transaction through a foreign currency or a payment processor that wasn't designed with South African producers and artists in mind.
Quality, not just quantity
Every beat on ProdBy goes through a review before it's listed publicly, we check audio quality, artwork, and basic presentation before anything goes live. It's a small extra step for producers, but it keeps the marketplace worth browsing for artists.
